"Each day is an adventure in discovering the meaning of life!"
Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia— I am a digital Nomad, and a recent Expat originally from Manila, Philippines, has been traveling and living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia since the year 2015 as Head of Digital and Creative Marketing for Arise Agency and Miss Cambodia. Previously, before moving to Phnom Penh, I was working as a Social Media Strategist for Rapid Cloud Singapore handling social media accounts for Southeast Asian countries.
The Kingdom of Cambodia has increased its popularity as a tourist destination because of the magnanimous Angkor Wat in Siem Reap— touted as one of the most visited destinations in the world. Whilst the capital city, Phnom Penh with a reputation for being quieter and more laid-back than most other cities in the region has developed a booming nomadic and expatriate community.
Of course, I can only speak for myself, the cost of living in Cambodia is greatly mitigated if you get to know the locals, notwithstanding, certain foodstuffs and transportation fees can be very pricey because of lack of market control or no competition to keep the prices competitive. Take note, Cambodia primarily uses both US Dollar and Cambodian Riel, and the exchange rate is roughly USD 1.00 to KHR 4,000.00.
So far, I have been in awe at the diversity of experiences working overseas. Those who know me in the blogging scenes when I was in Manila, we have launched Metro Blogger— a social circle of amazing bloggers in the metro. Today, I am taking my own unique path launching my personal blog— the Nomad Expat Blogspot that aims to build a community of like-minded and amazing people, highlighting our newest discoveries and adventures not only as Nomads and Expats but also as Travelers!
